Message Over the past few months, there have been several posts referring to various '96 commemorative Z's for sale (some legit and some not). The purpose of this post is to definitively educate the masses about the 1996 commemorative edition (CE) 300ZX, and why it is "special." I suspect that even the majority of the tt.net veterans are not familiar with this stuff...

I purchased my 1996 commemorative 300ZX TT in Baltimore back in 1997 when it had 1087 miles on it. Currently, it is in pretty good shape, and has accumulated 9K miles over the years.
On the outside of the '96 CE 300ZX, there is a sticker located in the rear quarter window that "celebrates 26 years of Z car excellence." Here are a few pictures of this, both at a distance and close-up:

On the inside of the Z, there is a commemorative edition plaque adjacent to the clock that indicates the number of the vehicle (out of the last 300 ever made):

This leather-bound book contains a picture of your Z as it rolled off the assembly line, as well as a certificate that indicates which number (of 300) the car represents:

The first picture here is a certificate that also came with the Z, and is signed by Mr. K (thanks Damon)! The second picture is a letter from the CEO of Nissan (frames not included).

And last of all, this is a copy of the original concept drawing of the Z32, on papyrus paper, and the frame was included:

These are the reasons why the 1996 CE 300ZX is so "special" and unique. In this day and age of continued depreciation of our cars, with concomitant loss of any exclusivity, at least the commemorative edition Z still retains significant rarity, and value, at least to me. I hope this post was informative, or at least interesting.
